"For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." -1 Peter 1: 18-19

I can relate this verse to real life. What this verse means to me is that at the end of the day, materialistic things do not get you anywhere. It is more of the things that have to do with you and your relationship with God. If you let Christ steer the way of your life and trust in him, you will succeed and prosper in life. The materialistic things such as clothes and looks will only last for a while. What this verse is saying is that the temporary things in life did not save us , but the blood of Christ was responsible for this.
